CSU Northridge Edges Out Santa Barbara Behind Balanced Effort
In a closely contested conference matchup, CSU Northridge (H) emerged victorious over visiting team Santa Barbara (A) with a 74-65 win at Premier America Credit Union Arena on Sunday evening.
The home team's balanced attack was the story of the night, as they led from start to finish behind strong performances from Larry Hughes II and Mahmoud Fofana. Hughes II poured in 23 points, including two 3-pointers, while Fofana chipped in with 16 points and 11 rebounds. The difference-maker in this matchup came down to rebounding and defense. CSU Northridge outrebounded Santa Barbara 43-34, including a decisive edge on the defensive glass. This allowed them to limit the Gauchos' second-chance scoring opportunities.
