Pitt defeats Binghamton 103-63

Binghamton Falls Flat in Statement Win at Pitt

In a dominating performance, the University of Pittsburgh Panthers cruised to a 103-63 victory over visiting Binghamton Bearcats at the Petersen Events Center on Friday night.

The Panthers' convincing win was a statement of their intentions for the remainder of the season. With the game's outcome all but certain by halftime, Pitt's players were able to coast to a comfortable lead and experiment with different lineups without risking any momentum loss.

Pitt took control from the opening tip-off, showcasing an efficient offense that hit 36 of 58 field goal attempts (62.0%) and committed only 11 turnovers. The Panthers' bench contributed mightily, with several players scoring in double figures. Barry Dunning Jr., a key contributor to the team's success this season, led Pitt with 23 points on 5-7 three-point shooting.

The Bearcats struggled to find their footing, however. Binghamton's offense was unable to keep pace with Pitt's, hitting just 44% of its field goal attempts (18/41). Despite forcing 22 turnovers from the Panthers, Binghamton could not capitalize on its opportunities and found itself trailing by as many as 40 points in the third quarter.

Demetrius Lilley led Binghamton with 13 points, but his efforts were largely in vain. The Bearcats' inability to get its offense going beyond halftime proved costly, as they never threatened to pull within single digits of Pitt's lead.
