Weber St Falls Short at Utah Valley, 90-74
In a tightly contested non-conference matchup, the Utah Valley Wolverines (HOME) emerged victorious over the visiting Weber State Wildcats, 90-74.
The Wolverines took control of the contest early, outscoring their opponents 40-32 in the first half. At halftime, the home team led by a margin of eight points, setting the tone for the rest of the game. Utah Valley continued to pull away in the second half, expanding their lead to as many as 19 points.
Tyler Hendricks was the standout performer for the Wolverines, scoring 22 points on 4-9 three-point shooting and 42.9% field goal efficiency. Sherman Weatherspoon IV led the team in rebounds with seven boards, while Trevan Leonhardt chipped in six assists and five points.
Weber State's Edwin Suarez Jr. was the leading scorer for the Wildcats, scoring 26 points on an impressive 73.3% shooting performance from the field. Suarez also grabbed 10 rebounds, but his team struggled to contain Utah Valley's offense.
The Wolverines' balanced attack and effective rebounding allowed them to outlast their opponents. They shot a solid 59.0% from the field, including 69.4% from two-point range. Utah Valley's defense played well, holding Weber State to just 45.0% shooting and forcing nine turnovers.
The win marks another significant victory for the Wolverines in their non-conference schedule, and it sets them up for a strong finish to the month of December.
