Nevada defeats Colorado St 62-75
Nevada Outlasts Colorado St in Conference Thriller
The Nevada Wolf Pack traveled to Fort Collins, CO, on New Year's Eve to take on the Colorado State Rams at Moby Arena. In a tightly contested conference matchup, Nevada emerged victorious with a 75-62 win over its Mountain West rival.
At halftime, the away team, Nevada, led by just one point, but would go on to outscore Colorado St by nine points in the second half to seal the 13-point victory. The largest lead change throughout the game came when Nevada built a 14-point advantage midway through the second half, with Colorado St trailing by seven at that point.
Tyler Rolison led Nevada in scoring with 21 points, shooting an impressive 66.7% from the field. Elijah Price contributed 10 rebounds and 7 points for Nevada on the glass. For the visiting team, Tayshawn Comer chipped in three assists to complement his two points.
Colorado St struggled to contain Nevada's offense throughout the game. The Wolf Pack shot a robust 42.0% from the field and hit 36.0% of their three-point attempts. Conversely, Colorado St managed only 37.0% from the field and was limited to 25.0% shooting on three-pointers.
In terms of pace and tempo, both teams were relatively balanced throughout the game, with neither team dominating in any aspect. However, Nevada's ability to stretch the floor through the consistent outside shooting proved to be the deciding factor in the matchup.
The win moves Nevada closer to its goal of competing for a top spot within the Mountain West conference. The loss keeps Colorado St in contention but still leaves them in need of a rebound if they hope to challenge for a championship.
