Prairie View defeats Miss Valley St 70-69
Prairie View Pulls Off Dramatic Comeback Against Miss Valley St
In a thrilling matchup at the William Nicks Building, Prairie View A&T (HOME) erased a 5-point halftime deficit to secure a 70-69 victory over visiting Miss Valley St.
The game was tied at 37-37 at intermission, setting the stage for an intense second half. The Panthers, led by their home crowd, began to assert control in the final minutes of regulation. With just under three minutes remaining, Tai'Reon Joseph (23 points, 3-10 3PT) drained a deep three-pointer to put Prairie View up by two.
Miss Valley St, however, refused to back down. Daniel Mayfield (20 points) led the charge, sinking several clutch free throws to keep his team in the game. However, it was too little, too late. The Panthers' defense stiffened, and they forced a costly turnover with just seconds left on the clock.
Joseph, who had already exhausted the entire bench in scoring duties, made one final trip down the court before sinking a three-pointer at the buzzer to seal the win for Prairie View.
