Navy defeats Rosemont 70-23
Navy Dominates Rosemont in 47-Point Blowout at Home
The Navy Midshipmen made a statement on Sunday afternoon, cruising to a 70-23 victory over visiting Rosemont at Alumni Hall. The blowout win marked a convincing display of Navy's dominance, as the home team controlled every aspect of the game.
At halftime, Navy led by an insurmountable 35-12 margin, setting the tone for the remainder of the contest. In the second half, the Midshipmen continued to pull away, with their largest lead reaching 50 points at one point. The final margin of 47 points was a testament to Navy's superiority.
Navy's balanced attack was on full display, as Donovan Draper led the team in scoring with 15 points on 55.6% shooting from the field. Mike Woods provided a strong all-around performance, grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out five assists to complement his four points. The Midshipmen also received contributions from Zaki Gomez, who added six rebounds and six points.
Rosemont struggled to find its footing on the road, shooting just 5-40 (13%) from the field and 3-20 (15%) from beyond the arc. Despite Brandon Moore's seven points, the visiting team was outrebounded 19-4 and committed 19 turnovers.
The statistics told a similar story. Navy shot an efficient 45% from the field, while Rosemont struggled to get its shots to fall at just 13%. The Midshipmen also excelled in rebounding, grabbing 50 boards to Rosemont's 19. Navy's offense was well-coordinated, with the team scoring 30 points in the paint and 9 fast break points.
In contrast, Rosemont was plagued by turnovers, committing 19 unforced errors that often led to easy baskets for the Midshipmen. The visiting team's poor shooting percentages – particularly from three-point range – made it difficult for them to mount a comeback.
The win was significant for Navy, marking a statement victory in non-conference play. With the team looking strong heading into the second half of the season, fans are eagerly anticipating what the future holds for this talented squad.
