Coastal Car defeats App State 67-62
Coastal Car Edges Out App State in Dramatic Comeback Victory
In a thrilling conference matchup, Coastal Car erased a 6-point halftime deficit to secure a 67-62 win over App State at The HTC Center on Monday night.
Trailing by six points at the break, Coastal Car's Josh Beadle sparked an incredible comeback, scoring 13 of his game-high 25 points in the second half. Beadle also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists to lead his team to a hard-fought victory.
The largest lead of the night belonged to App State, which held a 5-point advantage early in the second half. However, Coastal Car's bench came up big down the stretch, helping to fuel their rally.
Despite trailing by as many as six points at one point in the first half, App State's offense found its footing in the second half. Alonzo Dodd led the way for the Mountaineels with 21 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome Coastal Car's late surge.
The difference in free throw shooting proved costly for App State, as they shot just 76% from the line while Coastal Car made 55% of their attempts. The home team's ability to capitalize on their free throws ultimately sealed the win.
Coastal Car's strong performance on offense was balanced by solid defense, with 11 turnovers and three steals for the Mountaineels' bench.
For App State, the tough loss drops them closer to the bottom of the conference standings.
