San José St defeats Air Force 70-62
San José St Edges Out Air Force in Thrilling Conference Showdown
The San José St Spartans proved they're a force to be reckoned with at home, defeating the Air Force Falcons 70-62 in a tightly contested conference game at the Provident Credit Union Event Center.
The home team's strong performance was built around senior Ben Roseborough, who poured in 19 points on 60.0% shooting from the field. Roseborough also snagged seven rebounds and dished out three assists to lead San José St to its 11-point advantage early in the second half.
Meanwhile, Air Force struggled with accuracy beyond the arc, going just 3-8 from three-point range. Lucas Hobin led the Falcons with 16 points, but his team couldn't overcome the Spartans' stifling defense.
At halftime, San José St was up by six points, 27-21, and the momentum seemed to swing in their favor after the break. The home team continued to push the pace, outscoring Air Force 43-21 in the first half and limiting the Falcons to just three fast-break points.
The biggest margin of the game came when San José St pushed its lead to as many as 11 points midway through the second half. Despite a late surge from Air Force, the Spartans held strong and sealed the win.
San José St's balanced attack was key in the victory, with Adrian Myers contributing seven rebounds, 15 points, and two assists, while Pasha Goodarzi chipped in with three assists and 18 points off the bench. The Falcons struggled to contain Air Force's Kam Sanders, who led all scorers with 11 points and added five assists.
In a matchup that saw both teams struggle with efficiency from beyond the arc, San José St's 38.0% three-point shooting margin (6/16 vs Air Force's 36.0%) proved crucial in the win.
The Spartans' victory moves them closer to contention for conference supremacy, while Air Force falls back into a tougher spot in the standings.
