Hofstra Edges Towson 78-67 in Tough Road Win
In a closely contested conference matchup, the visiting Hofstra Pride outlasted the host Towson Tigers 78-67 at TU Arena on Friday night.
The game was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team able to establish a significant lead until the final stretch. At halftime, the away team led 39-30, but Towson refused to back down, trimming the deficit to just three points heading into the second half.
Hofstra's Cruz Davis was the difference-maker in the second half, scoring 32 points on 42.1% shooting from the field and 3-7 from beyond the arc. The senior guard also played tenacious defense, recording two steals and helping limit Towson's top scorer Tyler Tejada to just 22 points.
Davis' performance was aided by a balanced supporting cast, as Silas Sunday chipped in with nine rebounds and six points off the bench. For Hofstra, Cruz Davis led all scorers with 32 points, while Silas Sunday added six points and nine rebounds.
Towson's Tyler Tejada had a strong game, scoring 22 points on 6-14 shooting from the field and making 2-6 three-point attempts. Caleb Embeya also contributed on the glass, grabbing nine rebounds to go along with six points.
The Pride's victory marked their first win over Towson in conference play this season, improving their overall record against the Tigers to 3-4 all-time.
