Belmont defeats Bradley 88-78
Belmont Brings Home a 10-Point Win over Bradley
In a high-scoring conference matchup, the Belmont Bruins took down the visiting Braves of Bradley University by a margin of 10 points, 88-78.
The home team started strong, leading at halftime with a score of 42-39. This early advantage allowed them to maintain control throughout the game, with the largest lead being an 11-point difference in the second half.
Tyler Lundblade paced Belmont's offense, scoring 25 points on 7-of-11 three-point attempts, hitting at a clip of 63.6%. Drew Scharnowski added 16 points and nine rebounds off the bench, while Jack Smiley chipped in with seven assists to round out the Bruins' top performers.
Bradley struggled to contain Belmont's outside shooting, allowing them to hit 10-of-23 three-point attempts (43.0%). The Braves managed to stay competitive until the second half, when their shooting cooled and they were unable to close the gap. Demarion Burch led Bradley in scoring with 25 points, but his team's inability to convert on 3-point shots held them back.
The Bruins' strong rebounding effort also played a key role in their victory. They outrebounded the Braves by seven, including a significant edge on the offensive glass (12-5). This allowed Belmont to limit Bradley's second-chance opportunities and keep them at bay throughout the contest.
Belmont's defense also made several big plays, with 7 steals and 3 blocks making key stops against the Braves. The Bruins' true shooting percentage of 68.5% reflects their overall efficiency on offense, while their eFG% of 64.7% highlights their ability to score from both inside and outside.
The win improves Belmont's chances in conference play, and they look forward to their next matchup.
