Utah Tech Edges Weber State in Thrilling Matchup
The Dee Events Center played host to an instant classic on Monday evening, as the Utah Tech Thundering Herd (AWAY) edged out the Weber State Wildcats (HOME) 82-80 in a nail-biting non-conference matchup.
Weber State got off to a strong start, holding the Thundering Herd to just 43 points in the first half. However, Utah Tech's Ethan Potter and Tijan Saine led their team on an incredible comeback, as they scored 39 points combined to take a slim 2-point lead into halftime.
The second half was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading baskets and playing tenacious defense. The Thundering Herd took the lead with just over two minutes remaining, but Saine responded with a clutch three-pointer to put Weber State ahead by one. Potter answered with a layup on the other end, sending the game into overtime.
In the extra period, Utah Tech's Ethan Potter scored the go-ahead basket with 45 seconds left, and despite a late Wildcats' push, the Thundering Herd held on for the thrilling two-point victory.
