Arizona defeats San Diego St 68-45
Arizona Dominates San Diego State in Statement Win
The Arizona Wildcats proved their strength and depth by crushing the San Diego State Aztecs 68-45 at Footprint Center on Monday night.
A blowout victory like this is often a statement win, and for Arizona, it was just that. With their home crowd cheering them on, the Wildcats controlled every aspect of the game, outscoring the Aztecs by 23 points in the final margin.
At halftime, Arizona led 28-27 but ultimately never looked back, as they extended their lead to 26 points at one point and never let San Diego State get within single digits again. The biggest difference-maker was the Wildcats' ability to contain the Aztecs on both ends of the floor.
Reese Dixon-Waters led for San Diego State with 8 points but struggled from beyond the arc, going 0-4 and making only 20% of their shots from the field. Meanwhile, Koa Peat had a strong night for Arizona, scoring 11 points off just one three-pointer.
Tobe Awaka and Jaden Bradley were also standouts for Arizona, as they combined for 15 rebounds, 11 assists, and 2 steals in the win.
The Wildcats' shooting percentages were not spectacular, but their ability to limit San Diego State's offense made up for it. The Aztecs shot just 27% from the field, while Arizona was slightly better at 38%.
In the end, this one was never close, as Arizona proved itself to be a force to be reckoned with in the Pac-12.
