Hofstra Outlasts Drexel in Thrilling Conference Showdown, 70-67
In a back-and-forth contest that saw neither team able to pull away comfortably, the visiting Hofstra Pride edged their hosts, the Drexel Dragons, 70-67 on Sunday night at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
The game was set up for a classic showdown between two conference foes, with the Pride's victory serving as a major upset. The outcome highlighted the resilience and determination of Hofstra's team, which outlasted their opponents despite trailing by five points at halftime.
At intermission, Hofstra led 25-40, but the Dragons stormed back behind Shane Blakeney, who scored eight of his 18 points in the second half to keep Drexel within striking distance. The Pride regrouped and closed out the game with a 16-2 run that ultimately sealed their win.

The game saw both teams struggle from beyond the arc, with Hofstra converting on eight of their 19 three-point attempts (42.0%) to Drexel's seven of 24 (29.0%). Both squads also struggled in the paint, as the Pride outscored the Dragons by four points and the Dragons' 32 points in the paint were fewest of any team in the matchup.
In the end, it was Hofstra's ability to overcome a halftime deficit that proved decisive. Despite playing away from home, the Pride proved they belonged in the conference spotlight.
