Kansas defeats Iowa State 84-63
Kansas Dominates Iowa State in Statement Win at Allen Fieldhouse
In a convincing display of dominance, the Kansas Jayhawks cruised to an 84-63 victory over visiting Iowa State Cyclones on Wednesday night at historic Allen Fieldhouse.
The Jayhawks' home-court advantage was evident from the opening tip, as they quickly established a commanding lead that would prove insurmountable for the Cyclones. At halftime, Kansas boasted a 44-23 advantage, and the margin only widened in the second half, with the Jayhawks ultimately outscoring Iowa State by 21 points.
Kansas' offense was clicking on all cylinders, shooting an efficient 51.0% from the field and 50.0% from three-point range, while also converting at a high rate of 83.0% from the free throw line. The Cyclones struggled to keep pace, managing just 37.0% shooting from the field and 33.0% from beyond the arc.
The Jayhawks' defensive performance was equally impressive, holding Iowa State to just 40% shooting and forcing 18 turnovers, many of which came courtesy of their strong rebounding efforts, which outmuscled the Cyclones on both ends of the floor.
With the win, Kansas made a statement in conference play, solidifying its position as one of the top teams in the Big 12. The Jayhawks' victory also marked a significant milestone for head coach Bill Self, who now has 300 career wins at Allen Fieldhouse.
For Iowa State, the loss was a tough pill to swallow, particularly given the lopsided margin by which they were defeated. The Cyclones will need to regroup and refocus if they hope to continue their push in conference play.
