Texas A&M defeats Auburn 88-90
Texas A&M's Late Surge Beats Auburn in Thrilling 90-88 Homecoming Victory
Neville Arena, Auburn, AL - January 6, 2026
In a back-and-forth affair that saw both teams overcome deficits and lead multiple times, the visiting Texas A&M Aggies (52.0%) pulled off a dramatic comeback to edge host Auburn 90-88 in conference action.
Trailing by as many as 16 points at halftime, the Aggies stormed back behind a strong second-half showing from Pop Isaacs, who scored 21 of his 21 points in the final 20 minutes. Keyshawn Hall paced both teams with 32 points for Auburn (45.0% FG), but the Tigers could not hold off the Aggies' late surge.
Auburn took control early, building a 10-point halftime lead behind Hall's 15 first-half points. The home team's size and depth gave them an edge in the paint, as they outrebounded Texas A&M 21-12 on the defensive end.
However, the Aggies adjusted their strategy in the second half, emphasizing the three-point line to cut into Auburn's lead. Isaacs led the way with four three-pointers, while Jacari Lane added seven rebounds and 17 points off the bench.
As the game entered its final minutes, Texas A&M trailed by just two points. With 2:15 remaining, the Aggies took the lead for good on a three-pointer from their bench unit. Auburn responded with a late push of its own, but ultimately fell short in the end.
Isaacs' all-around effort - including five assists and two rebounds - was instrumental in Texas A&M's victory. "We adjusted our approach to exploit their weaknesses," Isaacs said after the game. "We knew we had the talent to compete with Auburn, and it showed tonight."
For Auburn, a 16-point halftime deficit proved too large to overcome. Despite Hall's best efforts, the Tigers were unable to contain Texas A&M's attack in the second half.
The win improves Texas A&M's (64.5% eFG%) chances in conference play, while handing Auburn its first home loss of the season (56.0% TS%).
With this victory, the Aggies (90 points) proved they are a force to be reckoned with in the Southeastern Conference.
