LMU Edges Pacific in Thrilling Conference Showdown
In a back-and-forth affair, LMU (HOME) came from behind to defeat visiting Pacific 80-71 on New Year's Eve at Gersten Pavilion.
The game was tied at halftime, with the away team leading 41-37. However, the home crowd proved decisive in the second half, as LMU erased a four-point deficit and took control of the contest.
Myron Amey Jr. led the way for LMU (HOME), scoring 20 points on 3-10 three-point shooting. He also grabbed six rebounds and dished out one assist. Jan Vide chipped in with five assists and 18 points, while also recording three rebounds.
For Pacific (AWAY), Elias Ralph paced the team with 19 points on 46.7% shooting from the field. Jaden Clayton added eight assists and nine points, but his efforts were not enough to secure a road victory.
The difference in shooting percentages between the two teams was stark, with LMU making 49% of its field goal attempts and Pacific hitting just 37%. The home team's three-point shooting was also more reliable, with 10 successful makes from beyond the arc compared to seven for Pacific.
LMU's rebounding advantage played a key role in the game. The home team outrebounded Pacific 31-39 but still managed to secure a crucial conference win.
